Privacy Policy

    The short version: CloudEject runs entirely on your device.
    Your emails, files, and photos are downloaded directly from Google to your phone.
    They are never sent to our servers — because we don't have any.
    We do not sell, share, or monetise your data in any way.
  

1. Who We Are

CloudEject ("we", "us", "our") is a mobile application that allows users to archive their Google account data — including Gmail emails, Google Drive files, and Google Photos — directly to their phone's local storage. CloudEject is developed and operated by an independent developer based in New Zealand. You can reach us at info@cloudeject.com.

2. What Data We Access

To provide its core functionality, CloudEject requests the following permissions from your Google account via OAuth 2.0:

Gmail (read & modify): To list, read, and optionally delete your emails after archiving. We access email headers (subject, sender, date) and email body content so they can be saved to your device.
Google Drive (metadata read): To retrieve your Google storage quota information (total space used, drive usage, trash size) displayed on the home screen.
Basic profile (name, email address, profile photo): Used solely to display your account name and avatar inside the app.

CloudEject's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

3. How We Use Your Data

All data accessed through Google APIs is used exclusively to perform the archiving function you request. Specifically:

Gmail data is downloaded and saved as an encrypted .cej file on your phone's local storage only.
Storage quota data is displayed on the home screen dashboard and is never stored persistently by the app.
Your profile information (name, email, photo) is held in memory while the app is open and used only to display your account details.

We do not use your data for advertising, analytics, profiling, or any purpose beyond the direct service you requested.

4. Data Storage & Security

CloudEject does not operate any servers or cloud infrastructure. All archived data is stored locally on your device in encrypted form using AES-256 encryption. The encryption key is tied to your device and is never transmitted anywhere.

We have no access to your archived files. If you lose your device or uninstall the app, your archived data cannot be recovered by us.

5. Data Sharing & Third Parties

We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal data or Google account data with any third party, advertiser, or data broker — ever.

The only third-party service involved in CloudEject's operation is:

Google LLC — as the source of the data you choose to archive. Your interaction with Google is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
Expo Application Services (EAS) — used solely to compile and distribute the app binary. EAS does not process your Google account data.

6. Data Retention

CloudEject does not retain any of your data. Archived files live on your device under your full control. You can delete them at any time through your phone's file manager or by uninstalling the app.

Google account access tokens are held in memory only for the duration of your session. They are not written to disk.

7. Your Rights & Control

You have full control over your data at all times:

Revoke access: You can revoke CloudEject's access to your Google account at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
Delete archives: All .cej archive files are stored in your phone's local storage and can be deleted like any other file.
Sign out: Signing out of the app immediately clears your session and access token from memory.

8. Children's Privacy

CloudEject is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has used the app, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
